Who Was Jesus of
Nazareth, Really?
You
Decide!
When it comes to just who Jesus of Nazareth
was, there are ONLY TWO possibilities from which you can
choose.
Biblically, however, your two choices are:
-
He was the Son of God.
-
He was a Son of Satan.
Now, that may sound a bit harsh, but here are the scriptures
to back it up. To start off, I'll just do a search on "Son of God". Then
I'll dig a little deeper with other terms.
What his mother had to say:
| And the angel answered and
said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of
the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who
is to be born will be called the Son of
God. |
She had to have told this story to her
parents, to Joseph, to Luke or someone . . .
What the demons had to say:
| When He had come to the other side, to the
country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men,
coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could
pass that way. |
| And suddenly they cried out, saying, "What have
we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to
torment us before the time?" |
| And demons also came out of many, crying out and
saying, "You are the Christ, the Son of God!" And He, rebuking them,
did not allow them to speak, for they knew that He was the
Christ. |
| And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him,
fell down before Him and cried out, saying, "You are the Son of
God." |
| But He sternly warned them that they should not
make Him known. |
What Jesus' disciples had to say:
| Mt 14:22 |
Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go
before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes
away. |
| But the boat was now in the
middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was
contrary. |
| Now in the fourth watch of
the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. |
| And when the disciples saw
Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is a ghost!"
And they cried out for fear. |
| But immediately Jesus spoke
to them, saying, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be
afraid." |
| And Peter answered Him and
said, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the
water." |
| So He said, "Come." And when
Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to
Jesus. |
| But when he saw that the
wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried
out, saying, "Lord, save me!" |
| And immediately Jesus
stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of
little faith, why did you doubt?" |
| And when they got into the
boat, the wind ceased. |
| Then those who were in the
boat came and worshiped Him, saying, "Truly You are the Son of
God." |
| The beginning of the gospel
of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. |
| In the beginning was the
Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. |
| He was in the beginning with
God. |
| All things were made through
Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. |
| In Him was life, and the
life was the light of men. |
| And the Word became flesh
and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the
only begotten of the Father, full of grace and
truth. |
| And truly Jesus did many other signs in the
presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; |
| but these are written that you may believe that
Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have
life in His name. |
| "I did not know Him, but He
who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the
Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes
with the Holy Spirit.' |
| "And I have seen and
testified that this is the Son of God." |
| Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and
the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall
live. |
| "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall
never die. Do you believe this?" |
| She said to Him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that You
are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the
world." |
| So when the centurion and those with him, who
were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had
happened, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of
God!" |
| Nathanael answered and said to Him, "Rabbi, You
are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!" |
| Jesus answered and said to him, "Because I said
to you, 'I saw you under the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see
greater things than these." |
| Jesus answered and said to him, "Are you the
teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? |
| "Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We
know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our
witness. |
| "If I have told you earthly things and you do
not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly
things? |
| "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came
down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. |
| "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the
wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, |
| "that whoever believes in Him should not perish
but have eternal life. |
| "For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish
but have everlasting life. |
| "For God did not send His Son into the world to
condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be
saved. |
| "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he
who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not
believed in the name of the only begotten Son of
God. |
| Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most
assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what
He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in
like manner. |
| "For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all
things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than
these, that you may marvel. |
| "For as the Father raises the dead and gives
life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. |
| "For the Father judges no one, but has committed
all judgment to the Son, |
| "that all should honor the Son just as they
honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the
Father who sent Him. |
| "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My
word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall
not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. |
| "Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is
coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of
God; and those who hear will live. |
| "For as the Father has life in Himself, so He
has granted the Son to have life in Himself, |
| "and has given Him authority to execute judgment
also, because He is the Son of Man. |
| Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when
He had found him, He said to him, "Do you believe in the Son of
God?" |
| He answered and said, "Who is He, Lord, that I
may believe in Him?" |
| And Jesus said to him, "You have both seen Him
and it is He who is talking with you." |
| "do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified
and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I
am the Son of God'? |
| "If I do not do the works of My Father, do not
believe Me; |
| "but if I do, though you do not believe Me,
believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is
in Me, and I in Him." |
| Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying,
"Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick." |
| When Jesus heard that, He said, "This sickness
is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may
be glorified through it." |
| But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest
answered and said to Him, "I put You under oath by the living God:
Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!" |
| Jesus said to him, "It is as you said.
Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man
sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of
heaven." |
| Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying,
"He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses?
Look, now you have heard His blasphemy! |
| Then they all said, "Are You then the Son of
God?" So He said to them, "You rightly say that I am." |
| And they said, "What further testimony do we
need? For we have heard it ourselves from His own
mouth." |
| Then the whole multitude of
them arose and led Him to Pilate. |
| And they began to accuse
Him, saying, "We found this fellow perverting the nation, and
forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ,
a King." |
| For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and
sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the
Sabbath. |
| But Jesus answered them, "My Father has been
working until now, and I have been working." |
| Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill
Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God
was His Father, making Himself equal with
God. |
| The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and
according to our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the
Son of God." |
Even without the scriptures in place it doesn't take a
genius to figure out that if Jesus was not whom he said he was, he was
either a blaspheming liar (and Satan is the father of all lies) or he
was insane (and being demon-possessed was equated with certain forms
of insanity in scripture).
If he is not the son of God, he could not have been a great
rabbi because he taught blasphemy in saying he was the Messiah if he was
not!
